GLC strike suspended
The General Labor Confederation’s (GLC) executive board decided to suspend the strike that was scheduled for Tuesday 27/12/2011 and keep the executive council’s sessions open.

The executive board announced during one of its open sessions headed by the Union’s head Ghassan Ghosn, that what was approved in the cabinet, upon the Labor Minsiter’s request, led to a structural amendment to the wage’s composition. In fact, the monthly transportation allowance is now considered as a part of the wage, the implementation of the social security law is now compulsory and the scholarship is funded by the family and education indemnity fund.

The board called on the cabinet to change the fiscal policy and stop exhausting the purchasing power for the people with low-income and employees through indirect taxes and high fees. It also urged the cabinet to protect the wages of workers and people with low-income to mitigate the prices chaos.
