Judge al-Zain issues arrest warrant against Naim Abbas
Military Examining Magistrate Imad al-Zain issued on Wednesday an arrest warrant against a top official in the al-Qaeda-linked Abdullah Azzam Brigades, on charges of belonging to an armed terrorist group.

Naim Abbas was accused of having links to terror suspect Jamal Daftardar and seeking to carry out terrorist activities in Lebanon.

Abbas was also charged with forging identification papers.

His interrogation was deferred until next week to allow Abbas to appoint a lawyer.

The Lebanese Armed Forces arrested on the 12th of February a Palestinian national identified as Naim Abbas dubbed "the most dangerous terrorist in the country."

Preliminary information revealed that Abbas had been at the receiving end of a network smuggling booby trapped cars from Omar al-Atrash.

After his arrest, Abbas confessed the presence of an explosive-laden vehicle, which was later found and dismantled by Lebanese Armed Forces units. The vehicle was a black RAV 4 SUV loaded with explosives parked in a parking lot in the Corniche al-Mazraa region.
