US President Obama stresses to Salam importance of holding presidential elections on due time

US president Barrack Obama stressed on Friday to Prime Minister Tammam Salam the importance of holding the presidential elections within the constitutional deadlines and without any foreign interference.

Obama's comments were made during a phone call with Salam during which he congratulated him on the formation of the new government.

He also stressed the importance of national unity and adhering to the dissociation policy, reiterating US support to Lebanon.

In turn, Salam voiced his appreciation for the US support, stressing that Lebanon is keen on preserving its democracy.
