President Sleiman says Lebanon needs national defense strategy

President Michel Sleiman said Lebanon needs a national defense strategy that should adhere to the army and the state.

Sleiman's statements were made after attending a celebratory mass at the monastery for the Centennial Jubilee of Saint Rafka.

He also stressed that he will do his utmost so that the presidential elections could be held on time, and said: "I seek to exercise democracy and portray Lebanon as a democratic country at a time when Arab countries are aspiring to reach such a goal".

"The next president should act as per the constitution," Sleiman said, adding that his actions should protect Lebanon and its sovereignty.
