Arrest warrant issued against Naim Abbas, interrogations postponed until April 23

Military Investigative Judge Imad al-Zain interrogated on Wednesday Palestinian national Naim Abbas, in the presence of his attorney. Following the interrogation, Judge al-Zain issued an arrest warrant against Abbas and set up April 23rd a date to finalize the interrogations.

The judge also issued arrest warrants in absentia against two other fugitives.

The Lebanese Armed Forces arrested on the 12th of February Naim Abbas dubbed "the most dangerous terrorist in the country."

Preliminary information revealed that Abbas had been at the receiving end of a network smuggling booby trapped cars from Omar al-Atrash. After his arrest, Abbas confessed the presence of an explosive-laden vehicle, which was later found and dismantled by Lebanese Armed Forces units.

The vehicle was a black RAV 4 SUV loaded with explosives parked in a parking lot in the Corniche al-Mazraa region.

The LAF Intelligence arrested Omar al-Atrash Friday January 24, on charges of being involved in recruiting suicide bombers, smuggling rigged cars, explosive belts and planning terrorist attacks that had rocked the southern suburb of Beirut and Hermel.

On Sunday 25 January, al-Atrash confessed to bringing car bombs, explosive belts and suicide bombers in to Lebanon.
