President Sleiman chairs security meeting at Baabda Palace
President Michel Sleiman chaired a security meeting on Thursday at the Baabda Palace in the presence of Prime Minister Tammam Salam, National Defense Minister Samir Moqbel, Interior Minister Nouhad Mashnouq as well as heads of security and military apparatuses.

Talks featured high on the latest developments and the security plan being implemented in Tripoli and the Bekaa.

Early this month, the Lebanese army started implementing, in cooperation with the security apparatuses, a security plan in Lebanon's northern city.

This comes after the cabinet tasked the army and security forces with controlling the security situation in Tripoli and the eastern Bekaa Valley in areas bordering Syria.

President Sleiman and PM Salam lauded efforts to implement the plan and agreed on taking intensive security measures across the Lebanese regions, mainly near places of worship on the occasion of the Easter Holidays.

Lebanese officials also stressed the need to beef up security measures on the Beirut airport road in order to reassure tourists visiting the country.

Separately, the officials discussed the situation taking place in the Lebanese village of Tfeil and the tragic conditions its residents are withstanding.
