Former PM Hariri meets LF leader Geagea in Paris
A meeting between Future Movement head MP Saad Hariri and Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea is still ongoing in the French capital.

The meeting is held in the presence of Future bloc head MP Fouad Siniora with talks featuring high on the Lebanese presidential elections.

In this regard, sources told LBCI that the attendees stressed they are adamant on holding the presidential elections on time, voicing their rejection to power vacuum.

The officials also called on the parliamentary blocs to participate in Thursday's session, the sources said.

Lebanese lawmakers failed for a fourth time to choose a new head of state on Thursday and will try again, only three days before President Michel Sleiman's term ends.

If the next round on May 22 fails, it will create a power vacuum in a country that desperately needs leadership to deal with a spillover of violence from neighboring Syria, more than a million refugees from the civil war there, and a budget deficit close to 10 percent of the size of its economy.

Politicians say they expect disagreements over Sleiman's replacement to drag on for months after he leaves office.
