Speaker Berri calls Israeli strikes “full-fledged war crimes”

Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri condemned Wednesday’s Israeli attacks as a “full-fledged war crime,” describing them as a severe test for both the international community and Lebanese society.

Speaking on the massacres carried out across Lebanon, particularly in Beirut, Berri said the ongoing Israeli campaign of destruction and killing has escalated into a “war of extermination,” with airstrikes targeting the capital, southern suburbs, and wide areas of the Bekaa Valley, Mount Lebanon, Sidon, and multiple southern villages.

The attacks have left hundreds of civilians dead or injured, including dozens of children, women, and elderly people, in densely populated neighborhoods.

Berri stressed that today’s attacks, occurring despite the recent regional ceasefire agreement that Israel has not honored, challenge international law, norms, and treaties. He added that the violence is also a test for all Lebanese leaders—political, religious, and civil—to unite in the face of bloodshed.

He concluded with condolences and well wishes: “May the martyrs rest in peace, the wounded recover swiftly, and may God protect Lebanon.”
