Zahleh schools close due to heavy snow storm

The storm, which began on Wednesday, is still sweeping through Lebanon and the weather is expected to start improving from Friday night onwards. Snow fell in Lebanon at an altitude of 800 meters on Thursday.

Schools and all institutions closed their doors on Friday in Zahleh because of heavy snowfall. Snow covered most of Al Arkoub and isolated certain villages in this region, preventing residents from arriving to the Hasbaya.

Snow began falling in the early hours of the morning to cover the heights of Jabal Al Sheikh and the hills of Al Akroub. 50 centimeters of snow covered the roads in Shebaa and 30 centimeters in Kfarchouba. Israeli posts, such as the radar, skiing slopes and the region of Es Sammaqa, in the surroundings of Shebaa farms are covered in snow. Snow has also fallen on UNIFIL sites in Kfarchouba and Shebaa.
