[PHOTOS] EDL contract workers vow to continue open-ended strike

A delegation of the Electricite du Liban contract workers met on Tuesday with Minister of Energy Arthur Nazarian.

Following the meeting, the workers declared that negotiations with Minister Nazaraian had failed, stressing that they will continue their open-ended strike.

The workers also added that they will set up tents outside the EDL's company's headquarters.

Earlier, EDL contract workers held a sit-in outside the Ministry of Energy to protest the failure to grant them full-time employment at the company.

This as another sit-in was held simultaneously outside the EDL company in the northern town of Halba where protesters prevented employees from entering the building.

EDL contract workers have been protesting for months calling on the government to employ them as full-time staff and to pay their salaries.

Their protests have included shutting the gates of EDL headquarters in Beirut and disrupting normal work at the state-run company.
