Abou Faour says Health Ministry to cover expenses of medical implants and prostheses
Public Health Minister Wael Abou Faour declared Wednesday that the Health Ministry issued a decision to start covering the expenses of medical implants and prostheses, calling on citizens not to pay any additional fees to hospitals or doctors and to report all violations to the ministry.

In a press conference, the minister noted that the decision includes bone and heart surgeries, as well as medical supplies, known as prostheses, required to carry out these operations and known for their high cost.

“Citizens are paying unjustified amounts of money for medical implants, while the only beneficiaries are hospitals, manufacturing companies, as well as the physicians who do not respect their career,” he added.

In this regard, Abou Faour explained that the physician can chose the “prosthesis” needed for an operation, and the health ministry will cover the expenses by 95% in a governmental hospital and 85% in a private hospital, while the patient will cover the rest.
