Former MP Ahdab says Lebanon's cabinet lacks vision

The head of the Civil Moderation Gathering, former MP Mosbah Ahdab, said on Monday that the Lebanese cabinet is required to take concrete measures so that the families of kidnapped troops would reopen blocked roads.

The captives' relatives have been staging sit-ins and blocking roads in order to urge the release of the troops who were kidnapped by militants from the Islamic State and al-Nusra Front in the border town of Arsal.

In an interview with LBCI's Nharkom Said TV Show, Ahdab said the Lebanese cabinet lacks vision, noting that several gunmen who were detained in the wake of the Arsal incidents were arrested for fighting Hezbollah in Syria's Qalamoun.

"Lebanon is in a bind since the political class is not unified and since Hezbollah has not been able to win its battle in Syria," former MP Ahdab said.

Separately, he slammed attempts to undermine the authority of the Lebanese Armed Forces via social media networks or other means.

Syrian journalist Faisal al-Qassem, a talk show host on al-Jazeera TV channel, is known for his provocative on-screen style and his controversial statements.

In his latest social media stunt, he posted a tweet whereby he mocked the Lebanese army, saying "the army’s achievements can only be seen through glorified video clips."
