US renews travel warning to Lebanon
The United States renewed on Wednesday its travel warning to Lebanon and advised US citizens already in the country to remain cautious.

The Department of State cited the ongoing safety and security concerns as the reason behind the travel warning.

The department said in a travel advisory on its website that Wednesday's alert “supersedes the Travel Warning issued on August 15, 2014.”

It also cited recent armed clashes in several regions and the proliferation of kidnappings.

The situation is still tense in the Bekaa border town of Arsal following clashes between the Lebanese army and militants.

The northern city of Tripoli has also witnessed fighting between the army and Islamist gunmen in late October.
