Cardinal Rai calls in Christmas message for election of new president

Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros al-Rai said Lebanon is in need of a promising and wise head of state who is renowned by his practices and who prioritizes the country’s interests.

In a Christmas message he delivered in Bkerke on Wednesday, Rai said Lebanon needs loyal and competent politicians who believe in sound democracy and human rights and are adamant on the country’s sovereignty, security and stability.

Cardinal Rai also noted that the national memorandum that was released on the 9th of February 2014 draws a roadmap to steer Lebanon out of its political crisis and its repercussions on the economic and security levels.
