Merhbi to LBCI: Army deployed on borders upon Syrian orders
Lebanon First MP Mouin Merhebi said that the army was deployed in Wadi Khaled upon Syrian orders addressed to President Michel Sleiman, PM Najib Mikati and the Army Command. He added that the Lebanese Army was deployed in Akkar, not along the border with Syria.

Merhebi told Nharkom Said that there is a plan to contain the LAF from Akkar on one hand and the Syrian Army deployed on the border on the other. Merhebi said that the plan’s goal is to displace the Syrian refugees in Wadi Khaled and arrest some of them, adding that the army is pressuring the region’s residents and asking them not to shelter displaced persons in their homes.

Merhebi said that Akkar residents stand with the Lebanese Army and with their efforts to prevent daily Syrian violations. Merhebi said that while they called for the deployment of army units on the border, it happened only after the “Syrian spy” tour which means the tour made by Syrian ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdul Karim and the head of the Syrian-Lebanese Supreme Council to the region.
