Van and minibus drivers block roads in Shoueifat

Minibus drivers blocked on Saturday morning a road in the Beirut suburb of Shoueifat in protest of a municipal decision banning the vehicles.

However, security forces reopened the road later on.

The bus and van drivers kicked-off protests at midnight Friday after the Shoueifat Municipality ordered the removal of all passenger vans.

Two of the protesters threatened to set themselves on fire by dousing themselves with fuel.

Protesters are set to hold a press conference later in the day.
