Chairman of Foreign Policy and National Security Committee at the Iranian Shura Council, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, met with Lebanese prime minister Tammam Salam at the Grand Serail whereby the two discussed means to further develop bilateral ties between Lebanon and Iran.
“Iran seeks to forge the best relations with all nations in the region, including Saudi Arabia,” he said following the meeting.
Boroujerdi had also held talks with Foreign Affairs Minister Gebran Bassil at the latter's ministerial office whereby he said that "the Lebanese presidential entitlement is a local issue par excellence," hoping for the swift election of a new head of state, the state-run National News Agency reported.
Talks featured high on local and regional developments in light of recent security breaches.
"I confirmed to the minister that Iran is doing all it can to enhance stability and security in Lebanon and the region," he added.
Discussions also focused on ways to boost and develop ties between Lebanon and Iran, particularly on the economic front.
"I briefed the minister on the latest developments related to Iran's peaceful nuclear file, as well as the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the 5+1 group," Boroujerdi concluded.
