Sources told LBCI on Thursday that MP Khaled el-Daher handed over to the Future Movement’s Beit al-Wasat two armored vehicles and security guards dispatched by the movement to protect the lawmaker. MP Khaled el-Daher suspended on Wednesday his membership in the Future bloc after inciting national outrage over remarks that were deemed offensive to Lebanon's Christian community. MP el-Daher issued on Wednesday a statement in which he said that he suspended his membership in the Future bloc, denying media reports that claimed that he was sacked. The bloc accepted Daher's "request" in a statement issued after its weekly meeting. Earlier, sources told LBCI that MP Khaled el-Daher was let off from the Future bloc. The move comes days after allies and foes have called for the ousting of north Lebanon MP from the March 14 bloc after he made provocative remarks over the removal of religious banners. At a demonstration protesting the removal of Islamist slogans from Tripoli’s Al-Nour Square on Sunday, Daher told his followers that Christians should be the first to remove their religious symbols from public spaces. “If they want to remove religious banners let them begin with the Christ the King statue and posters of Christian saints,” Daher said from Tripoli.
