Casino Du Liban sacked staff resume their movement

Casino Du Liban employees who were laid off from the country's main gambling center resumed their movement on Monday and headed, at around 10 a.m., to the casino where they met with the Board Chairman to tackle the latest developments regarding their case.

Lebanon’s renowned casino had issued an administrative decision to lay off 191 employees, triggering demonstrations outside the establishment.

Casino du Liban’s administration said it was seeking to resolve accumulating financial and administrative woes and ensuing changes would necessitate a temporary halt in salary raises and promotions and would also urge strict monitoring of production and efficiency.

As per the aforementioned decision, the administration announced that it would nullify the contracts of 191 employees who are “absent [from work], undisciplined, unorganized and unproductive.”
