MP Jean Ogassapian told Voice of Lebanon on Tuesday that the Cabinet’s possible approval of the electricity draft law without introducing any amendments would ignite a big scandal.
The Cabinet is considering the possibility of allocating close to $1.2 billion to Energy Minister Gebran Bassil for the construction of 700 MW power plants.
“The Cabinet should not yield its power to the Energy Ministry, as it was stated in the proposal of Change and Reform Bloc MP Michel Aoun”, Ogassapian said, adding the Cabinet should adopt the comprehensive plan of the previous ruling coalition.
When asked about the Syrian situation, Ogassapian said “Syria is facing growing isolation at the Arab and international levels and is coming under major international criticism.”
