[PHOTOS] Fire in Bebnine scorches local vegetation

A fire broke out on Wednesday in the Akkar town of Bebnine, destroying local vegetation. It was not known whether the fire was deliberate or caused by high temperatures.

In May, Minister of Environment Mohammed Machnouq warned of forest fires due to the dramatic rise in temperatures and the severe heat wave hitting Lebanon.

Lebanon witnesses every summer a series of fires due to the wave of heat that erupts in the country with the lack of specialized teams and equipment to fight them.
