Cluster bomb kills one, injures three in Marjayoun town of Majdal Selem

A nine-year-old Syrian boy was killed on Thursday and three of his relatives were injured when an Israeli cluster bomb exploded in south Lebanon.

The cluster bomb, dropped by an Israeli warplane during the 2006 attack on Lebanon, killed Khaled Barakat, 9, and wounded his two brothers, Hasan, 5, Mahmoud, 7, and father, Jamal, 33.

The incident occurred near the public square in the Marjayoun district town of Majdal Selem.

The injured were transferred to the Tibnine Public Hospital to receive the needed medical treatment.

Israel dropped around 4 million cluster bombs on Lebanon during the July-August 2006 war, the majority of them during the last 48 hours of the conflict, according to the United Nations.
