Berri says nuclear deal can help create suitable atmosphere to elect new president in Lebanon

Speaker Nabih Berri lauded on Wednesday the new Iranian nuclear deal, predicting that it will have positive implications on the region, adding that it may help in achieving a breakthrough in Lebanon.

Berri’s visitors quoted him as saying during Wednesday deputies’ gathering that the nuclear deal will create a positive atmosphere that will eliminate the complications hindering the election of a new president.

Iran and six world powers reached a deal on Tuesday, capping more than a decade of negotiations with an agreement that could transform the Middle East.

Under the deal, sanctions imposed by the United States, the European Union and the United Nations will be lifted in return for Iran agreeing long-term curbs on a nuclear program that the West has suspected was aimed at creating a nuclear bomb.
