Kidnapped university student Marc al-Hajj Moussa released

The state-run national News Agency reported on Saturday that a 20-year-old university student, who was kidnapped earlier in the week, was freed in exchange of a ransom in the eastern Bekaa Valley.

Earlier, sources told LBCI that the family of Marc al-Hajj Moussa received several phone calls from his kidnappers and succeeded in lowering the ransom from 1 million dollars.

On Friday, the state-run National News Agency reported that the Lebanese army clashed in the district of Baalbek with suspects wanted for several crimes, including the kidnapping of citizen Marc al-Hajj Moussa.

The clashes erupted when the army was pursuing the armed men on the outskirts of the town of Brital, the agency added.

The army was able to apprehend a suspect wanted on kidnapping charges while two others managed to escape during the raids, the agency added.

Marc al-Hajj Moussa, 20, was kidnapped at dawn Thursday on a road in the Metn town of Mazraat Yashouh while heading to his home in Bikfaya.

His car, a Toyota Land Cruiser, was later found in the region of Majdel Tarshish.

Moussa is a student at the Balamand University.
