Human trafficking and money laundering network arrested in Batroun
The Batroun office of the North Regional Directorate of State Security arrested Wednesday a network formed of 6 people, involved in human trafficking and money laundering, operating between Syria and Lebanon.
 
The network had smuggled a large number of men, women and children into Lebanon, the most recent batch included 50 persons who crossed into the Lebanese territories through illegal points near al-Masnaa area. Upon their arrival to the Chtoura region, the smugglers provided the migrants with forged Lebanese General Security documents.
 
The detainees were also involved in illegally transferring large amounts of funds between Syria and Lebanon.
