US grants USD 10 million donation towards Lebanon’s education fund

US ambassador to Lebanon David Hale declared Friday that the United States will offer a donation of USD 10 million for the United Nations Children's Education Fund (UNICEF) in Lebanon.

During a ceremony held at the Education Ministry, Hale explained that this assistance reflects Washington’s lasting commitment to ensure that all the children throughout Lebanon have access to quality education in safe environments, especially those affected by the war in neighboring Syria.

In turn, Education Minister Elias Bou Saab expressed gratitude to Hale for the continuous assistance provided by the United Nations for the education sector in Lebanon, noting that the number of Syrian refugees that flocked into the country has exceeded 1.5 million.

He pointed out that this donation comes at the right time.
