MP Talal Arslan: Shoueifat to reject Costa Brava landfill

MP Talal Arslan announced on Tuesday that officials from the Mount Lebanon district of Shoueifat rejected the establishment of a landfill in the town of Costa Brava.

"After three days of deliberations with the town's notables, officials and political parties, we decided to reject the establishment of a landfill in Costa Brava," Arslan said during a news conference.

He also noted to the need to export the country’s waste as a preferred option over the establishment of landfills.

Lebanon is scrambling to find a solution to the waste management crisis after heavy rains swept piles of uncollected trash into Beirut’s streets last week, raising public health concerns.
