Sleiman: an overhauled electoral law is key to reform

President Michel Sleiman said Saturday that the shift towards democracy in the region paves the way for Lebanon to improve its democratic system as well.

Sleiman stated that reform constitutes the cornerstone of democratic advancement. The president pointed out that in order to reach better democracy an overhauled electoral law guaranteeing the representation of all Lebanese groups should be drafted.

Following the electoral law reform, the administrative decentralization law as well as the establishment of partnership between the public and private sector at the economic level should be drawn up as well, he added.
