Mikati meets with a delegation from the Coordinating Union Body
Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati held a meeting on Wednesday with a delegation from the Coordinating Union Body in collaboration with the Minister of Education Hassan Diab.

Sources close to the body told As-Safir Lebanese Daily that excluding the ministerial follow up committee in charge of the pay scale issue from the meeting means that both parties are on a different wavelength.

Upon the completion of the meeting, Chairman of the Teachers Union Nehmeh Mahfouz said that an agreement was reached on the ranks and salaries issue which will include teachers and public sector employees. Degrees in relation to the pay scale were also concurred.

Mahfouz added that the points of contention revolved around the value of different degrees and scales, to be rediscussed on Thursday with the ministerial follow up committee.

Separately, Mikati held talks with Akkar Mufti Sheikh Osama al-Rifai and a delegation from the families of slain Sheikhs Ahmed Abdul Wahed and Mohammed Merheb on the latest developments on the case.
