Aounists back to the streets after years of interruption
During the 1988 Baabda sit-ins, the "movement of freedom, sovereignty and independence" was born. In August 7th 2001, the Free Patriotic Movement was reborn.

But in 2012, we witness the return of the Free Patriotic Movement to the streets.

Commenting on the above, March 14 member Elias Zoghby told LBCI that the decline in the FPM’s popularity explains General Michel Aoun’s choice of taking back to the streets.

However, Change and Reform bloc MP Ziad Aswad told LBCI that the FPM will not fall for other parties’ policy. “We have equal rights and obligations, and if they were not realized, we will react by taking to the streets” he stressed.
