State of alert prevails in Tripoli after limited overnight clashes

The Municipality of Tripoli decorated Syria Street and neighboring areas in an attempt to "ease the pain, poverty and fear experience on a daily basis by the region’s residents".

However, citizens of Jabal Mohsen and Bab el Tebbaneh referred to stoning one another prior to "upgrading" to a 2 hour gun battle, leaving Mohammad Fodda, the son of one of the Arab Party’s top officials, and two other men from Baal Mohsen wounded.

Weapons are widely available in Tripoli, and paradoxically, those who call for weapons mitigation, all the while citing their volatility are the ones holding on to theirs, even bringing more in.

Clear to the naked eye is the misery of Tripoli's Syria street, once known as the "street of gold", now impoverished and stricken with the state's forgetfulness.
