Tripoli's injury toll mounts as LAF intensifies measures in the area
Clashes erupted between Tripoli’s Al-Bikar and Jabal Mohsen on Friday but later spilled over into other areas identified as: Rifa, al-Mankoubin, al-Shaarani, Al-Hara al-Baraniyeh- Souk al Qameh, Syria Street, and Jabal Mohsen.

The clashes lasted several hours despite the LAF’s repeated attempts to contain the violence.

An armed clash erupted between citizens from Bab al-Tebbaneh and a family in the Zahiriyah area. The LAF intervened and restored calm in the area.

According to preliminary reports, the clashes injured over 13 people in Jabal Mohsen and more than 7 in Bab el-Tebbaneh.

Meanwhile, sniping was reported on the Akkar-Tripoli international highway, particularly near the Abou Ali and Malloula roundabouts. Accordingly, commuters were diverted to feeder roads.
In this regard, LAF issued a statement stressing that its troops will continue to hunt down insurgents and will intensify its measures to bring the situation back to normal.

Former MP Moustafa Allouch announced that Tripoli clashes did not reach the “boiling point”, adding that piled-up individual disputes could eventually lead to battles.

Allouch confirmed that the Arab Democratic Party’s accusation that the Future Movement is collaborating with the Free Syrian Army is unfounded.

In turn, Arab Democratic Party official Abdul Latif Saleh told LBCI that the army remains the sole protector of the Lebanese people.

Saleh added that the LAF intervention in Tripoli’s incidents has relieved the citizens, accusing Lebanon Frist bloc MPs of bringing Takfirist groups and the Free Syrian army into the city.
