Machnouk: We will not succumb to terrorism

Future parliamentary bloc MP Nohad el Machnouk stressed Sunday that his bloc will not succumb to terrorism, adding that Hezbollah’s arms do not have any national legitimacy that guarantees their survival.

Machnouk said, during a conference in Saadnayel, that Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai has rushed to conclusion, adding that “had he waited longer, he would have realized that the Syrian uprisings are popular and not religious.”

Machnouk also said: “The positions of Rai and Maronite clerics should be revised for who is looking for guarantees in a dictatorial regime, is being unfair to both Christians and Muslims”, adding that the sole guarantee is citizenship that is grounded upon freedom.

Machnouk stressed that “the political group he belongs to” will not adopt any electoral law that does not reassure all the Christians “no matter what their conditions are”.

Machnouk pointed out that the current cabinet does not reassure all the Lebanese for the conditions on which it was formed imply the protection of the extrastatal arms, the rejection of the STL and the support of Assad’s regime.
