Fabius: Lebanon's security is our utmost concern
French Foreign Minister Laurant Fabius said on Friday that he has addressed a "message of love and unity with Christians in the Middle East" to Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai.

Before leaving Lebanon, Fabius pointed out that he held talks with Rai and National Struggle Front Leader MP Walid Jumblatt on the need to protect minorities.

“The Lebanese and French relations are based on several levels and we hold on to Lebanon’s security”, he added.

Fabius stressed that France holds on to Lebanon's sovereignty, lauding the governments’ efforts in those regards. He also emphasized that Lebanon’s unity is of utmost importance, “we support Sleiman’s call for dialogue", he said.

Fabius called for the continuous support of Syrian refugees in Lebanon while expecting further defections on the part of Syrian officials.
