Washington warns of increased possibility of attacks against its citizens in Lebanon

Washington warned its citizens living in Lebanon on Friday that there is an increased possibility of attacks against them, urging them to be more cautious, according to a statement issued by the U.S. Embassy in Beirut.        

The Embassy stressed that it received reports on increased possibility of attacks against U.S. citizens in Lebanon.   

For its part, Turkey called on its citizens once again not to travel to Lebanon “where a number of Syrian and Turkish nationals” have been abducted lately.   

The Turkish Foreign Ministry advised its citizens not to travel to Lebanon except in case of extreme necessity.  

Meanwhile, Turkish President Abdullah Gul said that the Turkish national who was abducted on Wednesday represents a Turkish company that operates in Lebanon and has nothing to do with politics.       

Gul stressed that he met with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati and the Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour on Thursday in Mecca, and urged them to guarantee the immediate release of the two Turkish hostages.
