Mikati: I support the press freedom

Information Minister Walid Daouk, briefed on Saturday PM Najib Mikati about the National Media Council meeting that was held Friday night in the presence of several media representatives.

Daouk told the Prime Minister that it was agreed upon holding on to the press freedom as “the media shall maintain civil peace and will not repeat the same old mistakes”.

For his part, PM Mikati said that he and the cabinet support the press freedom. “The media have the right to transmit the free opinions of all parties with the condition of respecting the law”, he added.
