Kuwaiti hostage Issam el-Houti released

Interior Minister Marwan Charbel informed Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Monday evening that the Kuwaiti hostage Issam Nasser el-Houti has been released.

Mikati thanked security apparatuses and all those who contributed in the release of the Kuwaiti citizen, mainly the residents of the Bekaa.

Mikati called el-Houti to congratulate him on his safe return home.

El-Houti was kidnapped on Saturday outside his house in the town of Howsh al-Ghanam in the Bekaa valley.

Kuwait and several other Gulf states last week ordered their nationals to leave the country in light of escalating tensions.
