Berri calls for unity on 34th Sadr Commemoration Ceremony

On the 34th annual Commemoration Ceremony of Imam Sadr, Speaker Nabih Berri delivered a speech in which he promised to continue working for the release of Imam Sadr and companions.       

“We hope that the head of the Libyan Transitional Council considers the issue of Imam Sadr as a national issue” Berri said.  He also called for opening a serious and ongoing investigation on the case away from media spotlight.      

Berri revealed that Amal Party’s connections have “expanded enough to include countries neighboring Libya and have received positive indications about the missing Imam’s case”.  

Commenting on the Syrian crisis, the Speaker of the house said that Syria now faces a global conspiracy which aims at destroying its regional role and implementing Sykes-Picot.           
“The NAM summit has best support a political solution via Ibrahimi otherwise bloodshed will remain in Syria”, he said adding that the government is responsible for turning areas on the border to zones of terror.       

“Issues occurring around us were set up only with one goal and that is to protect Israel,” he said adding that stability in the Middle East remains hinged on fulfilling the hopes of the Palestinian people”.         

“Unity is the most potent weapon of defense in facing Israel”, he said stressing that Lebanon’s strength lies in its army and resistance.          

Berri roused the crowds asking them to be vigilant to the enemies of Islam who are “attempting to incite sectarian strife”.         

“We will not heed their calls”, he concluded.
