Sit-ins and strikes to continue until pay-scale is approved
The Head of Association of Public Secondary School Education Teachers Hanna Gharib has asked to put into effect the agreements previously reached regarding specific amounts of money for administrative staff.

During a sit in of the committee held on Tuesday he asked Prime Minister Najib Mikati: "is this what we had agreed upon?"

Gharib pointed out that the ranks and salaries series was only partially raised for cabinet's assessment adding that this is a "form of a retreat from previous pledges and acts as a direct threat to the honesty of the PM".

On the other hand, Farouq El-Halabi, the spokesperson of the Teachers of Vocational and Technical Education, stressed that this movement is for the benefit of the teachers; asking the government to approve the pay scale.

Within the same framework, the Head of the Public Administration Union, Mahmud Haidar, asked for approving the series of salaries in tomorrow’s council of ministers without partition.

As for the Syndicate of Private Schools’ Teachers, its head Nehme Mahfouz revealed that members of the syndicate will perform a strike next Thursday if the series of salaries is not adopted on Wednesday.
