March 14 calls on Sleiman and Mikati to put their words into action

March 14 Secretariat General urged President Michel Sleiman and PM Najib Mikati to put their words into action and to uphold their commitment to the UN Security Council Resolutions (UNSCR) related to Lebanon’s sovereignty, the state’s exclusive authority over defense and, security matters and the STL.

A statement issued following the secretariat’s weekly meeting said that Lebanon’s integrity will be questioned if the government attempts to evade the country’s commitment to UNSCR 1701, especially the part related to illegitimate weapons and adopting a selective approach when dealing with resolution pertaining to the STL. 

The secretariat called on the cabinet to stop playing for time and evading responsibilities for such approaches will drag the country “into moving sand” and conflicts stirred by illegitimate regional influences.

The secretariat stressed the importance of abiding by the Lebanese constitution and laws and always referring to the Taif agreement as a reference at each political juncture.
