Sheikh Rafei briefs LBCI on results of his Turkey visit to free Lebanese hostages
Member of the Association of Muslim Scholars Salem al-Rafei refused to say that the negotiations over the Lebanese hostages in Syria failed, stressing that the Association is sparing no effort to release them.

Rafei told LBCI that reports that emerged on the possible release of two of the Lebanese abductees were “media fabrications”, pointing out that both Muslim Scholars in Turkey and the abductors reassured him that the hostages will be freed soon.

Al-Rafei said that the abductors’ demand is not a “material demand”, adding that by requiring an apology from Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, they did not target him in particular, but all the Lebanese mainly Hezbollah, supporter of the Syrian regime.

In this regard, Sheikh Salem al-Rafei criticized Hezbollah’s support of the “oppressive” Syrian regime “despite the fact that Islam and Shiism call for defending the oppressed.”

Sheikh al-Rafei concluded that the longer the Lebanese hostages are detained in Syria, the more complicated the case will get especially since it includes Turkish nationals kidnapped in Lebanon.
