Mikati: relations with Berri remain amicable despite discourse

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati stressed on Monday that the self dissociation policy will not be upheld "amid Syria’s attempts to blow up the Lebanese arena".

"We will make the right decisions when the time comes," he added.

On the issue of the Lebanese hostages in Syria, Mikati said that Turkey is conducting serious negotiations which may soon yield results.

"The hostages may be released in stages,” the Premiere assured adding that the LAF may have new information on the whereabouts of the Turkish hostage.

Commenting on the release of the 3 LAF officers involved in the Kwaykhat incident, Mikati said that it had been done through the decision of the judiciary however is "far from being over".

As for the Hariri-Jumblatt meeting, the Premiere expressed satisfaction, saying "such meetings are not only welcome, but are highly encouraged".

Mikati then held talks with House Speaker Nabih Berri at Ain el-Teeneh, whereby the Premiere confirmed that relations between the top two officials remains amicable despite discourse.

When asked on the issue of the formation of a petroleum committee, Mikati said that it should soon come to light.
