Introduction to the evening news 25-09-2012

Lebanese pilgrim Awad Ibrahim is no longer a hostage. He has been released but is still in Ankara awaiting the arrival of two Lebanese officers to receive him tomorrow. The hostages' relatives who got used to false dates, waited all day long for the arrival of Ibrahim. Late in the day and to their disappointment, they were informed that his arrival will be delayed.                            

For his part, Abou Ibrahim said Awad Ibrahim was chosen to be released due to his health condition, crushing the hope of the release of any of the nine hostages anytime soon. He said that they are 'a special case' both on the political and security levels, referring to their affiliation to Hezbollah.             

The release took place in the absence of the Lebanese government, except for the "Delivery service" to Beirut. The past days have proven that the official security apparatuses have been busy attacking young protesters standing outside the Parliament and calling for electoral reforms and a civil personal status law.                       

In New York, the Syrian crisis was at the core of the U.N. General Assembly's annual session. U.S. President Barak Obama addressed world leaders saying: "Assad's regime must come to an end so that the suffering of the people will stop and a new dawn will come..." Obama also accused Iran of "propping up the dictator in Damascus".               

On the field in Syria, bombs fell on the Golan Heights without causing casualties. Consequently, Tel Aviv filed a complaint with the United Nations peacekeeping force.
