May 25, the abduction took place.               

August 25, Hussein Ali Omar was released.                

September 25, Ibrahim Awad was released.                           

Four month have gone by since the case of the Lebanese hostages in Syria have emerged, while it still seems to be in its first stages for it has been directly linked to the Syrian crisis, its complications and its developments.                       

If the release of every hostage took one month, will the whole case trails till next June, since nine hostages remain in custody?                     

Lebanese pilgrim Ibrahim Awad was freed, his plane is expected to arrive to Lebanon within few moments while the negotiations concerning the release of the nine other hostages will soon resume.                   

With the hostages being released successively, the electoral law remains “in custody” and is being kicked from one side to another. In this context, Speaker Nabih Berri imposed two conditions that failed to meet, as he required that the electoral law must conform to stipulations of al-Taef accord, regarding the governorates after reconsidering the administrative divisions, he also said that the law must not contradict with Christians’ agreements.                    

Also on the electoral law dilemma, Bkerke’s committee will be resuming soon its meetings to discuss the smaller districts law, under the chairmanship of Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai.             

The Lebanese electoral law became a great mystery, and perhaps conducting the elections is even a greater mystery.                   

In Syria, important developments marked the field, as two blasts hit a military complex in Damascus. An Islamic group assumed, later in the day, the responsibility of the bombings.
