Sleiman: Spy drone incident validates the need for the Resistance within the defense strategy

Lebanese President Michel Sleiman said that there is an urgent need to benefit from the resources and capabilities of the Lebanese resistance after a spy drone flew over occupied Palestinian territories.

"Dispatching an unmanned drone over Israeli enemy territories shows the great need for a defense strategy which will benefit from the resources of the Lebanese resistance in order to defend Lebanon and introduce a mechanism to utilize these capabilities according to the needs and defense plans of the army," the president said in a statement on Friday.


He added that the drone also raises the issue of the daily Israeli violations of the Lebanese airspace, adding that the Lebanese government has persistently filed complains about these violations to the United Nations Security Council.

The president also underscored the need to avoid the shelling of Lebanese areas which was due to military operations along the Lebanese-Syrian borders.
