Introduction to the evening news 30-09-2011

A busy Friday for Syria, Egypt and Yemen, but a dull one in Lebanon:

In Yemen, it seems that the specter of U.S. Intelligence is haunting al-Qaeda; following Bin Laden’s liquidation, Anwar al-Awlaki or “Yemen’s Bin Laden” had his card drawn today when he was killed in a CIA drone operation.

In Egypt, the semi-exposed conflict between the Military Council and the Muslim Brotherhood is escalating; In a Friday rally to “reclaim the revolution”, it became obvious that the Brotherhood are trying to regain control of the movement from the military. It is a conflict expected to escalate given the inability of either party to take a decisive blow.

In Syria, the U.S. ambassador’s pelting incident is still echoing a clear message from Damascus to Washington that the Syrian capital will not buckle under pressure.

Meanwhile, in Lebanon, the week has ended in anticipation for next Wednesday’s ministerial session.
