Mikati: I do not mind resigning if an alternative were available

Speaker Nabih Berri adjourned the parliamentary sessions scheduled for the 7th and 8th of November following talks with PM Najib Miakti in Ain el Tinneh.            
The two top officials had discussed the general security situation and ways to deal with the current crisis.        

For his part, Mikati said that March14 had been on a mission to topple the cabinet since day one, adding however that his responses will only be positive.       

He stressed that the cabinet's resignation must be a solution; not a new crisis in the country.                                   

Later on Mikati said via twitter that “the cabinet is currently conducting a meticulous study to ensure sources to finance the ranks and salaries series and give the people their rights without causing negative repercussions on the economy.”   

Also via twitter, Mikati lauded the release of Lebanese journalist Fidaa Itani who had been under house arrest in Aleppo's Aazaz area.

Miakti added that the government is exerting utmost efforts to harbor the release of all Lebanese abductees in Syria.

MP Mikati also said that he does not mind resigning as long as there is an alternative.

He also pointed out that political disputes shall not be faced by sectarianism.

"No one is more aware than I am regarding the Sunni sect," he said.

Mikati also revealed that he met with the Trade Union delegation to discuss the possibility of retired people (over the age of 64) profiting from the social security benefits by paying the subscription fees instead of their former employer.
