Rai during Easter sermon: If Lebanon had rational rule it would not need to go through crucifixion
Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai said on Sunday that the country is celebrating “the Resurrection of Jesus with pain, anguish and concern following the state of misery that we have reached due to poor political performance, lack of maturity in governance, and negative political choices.”

Rai’s comments were made during his Easter sermon at Bkerke and asked: "How can we rejoice at Easter and half of the Lebanese are in a state of hunger and many of them are below the poverty line?”

“How can we rejoice and young university graduates, doctors, engineers and specialists are leaving the country without looking back,” he added.

Rai also stressed that “he has no doubt about Lebanon's return to life.”
