REPORT: Restaurants owners adapt to non-smoking law changes

The employees who work in the tourism sector are hoping the authorities will find a solution for the negative influence the enforcement of non-smoking law has on the sector.

In this context, Elie Bassili, owner of several restaurants, said that he is prepared to receive his costumers according to the new law.

Bassili says the costumers got used to the new measures. Those who want to smoke, sit in an open place, and those who want to enjoy a meal or a drink in a "clean atmosphere", sit in a closed smoking-free zone.

However, Mark Mrakadi, owner of a touristic association, reported that the year 2012 registered very poor economic records in the tourism sector and was severely affected by the enforcement of the non-smoking law.
