Restaurants owners: All red lines have been crossed

Head of the union of restaurants, cafes, and pastry shops in Lebanon Tony Al Rami warned on Wednesday that the union had declared a state of tourist emergency due to the lack of fuel oil.

"Despite the fact that officials have been refraining from providing the nation with power supply, they’ve been also preventing the provision of substitutes," Al Rami said.

He went on to regret that the union’s establishments were unable to gain access to legal fuel oil, while the quantities bought at the black market rate were only sufficient for a few hours.

And added: "As for international chain restaurants, they will resort to closing 50% of their branches in an attempt to avoid complete closure; we are witnessing very difficult days and have crossed all the red lines," regretting inaction while everyone sits and watches with their arms folded.
